NSPA Provides MVR 52.7 Million In Disability Assistance In August

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) disbursed MVR 52.7 million in financial assistance to persons with disabilities last month.

The national disability register also recorded an increase of 107 individuals, according to recently released statistics.
As of August, the total number of registered persons with disabilities reached 14,673, up from 14,566 in July. The register includes 6,143 women and 8,530 men, with 4,916 children under the age of 18.
Among those newly registered for the Disability Allowance in August, 38 were children under 18, 51 were between 18 and 64, and 18 were over the age of 65.
Financial data from the Ministry of Finance indicates that the NSPA had spent MVR 2.09 billion as of 4 September, representing 53.2 percent of the MVR 3.93 billion allocated to the agency in the 2025 state budget.
