The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure and the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). State Minister Hassan Rasheed signed on behalf of the ministry, while MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee represented the company.
According to the ministry, the project, valued at MVR 262,983,879.36, is scheduled to be completed within one and a half years.
The project includes several major components, such as the reclamation of 3.9 hectares of land between Dhiyamigili and Madifushi to facilitate the connection between the islands. It also involves the construction of three separate causeway links: a 143.3-metre causeway between Medhafushi and Mathidhoo, a 978.2-metre causeway between Mathidhoo and Madifushi, and a 200.6-metre causeway connecting Madifushi and Ufuriyaa.
In addition to this project, MTCC has also been contracted to build a causeway linking Muli and Naalaafushi in Meemu Atoll, continuing the company’s role in expanding transport and infrastructure connectivity across the Maldives.
