Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting internal auditors and tackling the challenges they face in fulfilling their responsibilities.
He made the remarks yesterday while speaking as the chief guest at the State Internal Audit Conference 2025.
According to the President’s Office, Vice President Latheef highlighted the crucial role of internal auditors in enhancing accountability and transparency within state institutions. He noted that a framework for internal auditors has already been established and announced that improvements to the remuneration of auditors in Government offices would be introduced in the near future.
Noting the importance of safeguarding the independence of the audit system, the Vice President said enabling auditors to work without interference and ensuring the implementation of their recommendations would help transform state institutions and State-owned Enterprises into more accountable, efficient, and corruption-resistant bodies that serve the public interest.
He further stressed that auditors play a pivotal role in strengthening governance and maintaining public trust in state institutions. Reinforcing internal controls, he added, would ensure that every Rufiyaa spent by the state generates maximum value for the people.
Reflecting on the conference theme, “Driving Public Value – Internal Audit in the Era of Accountability and Change”, the Vice President observed that auditors must adapt and innovate in response to rapidly changing global challenges and risks. He said platforms such as the State Internal Audit Conference provide valuable opportunities to address these issues.
During the ceremony, the Vice President also inaugurated the Risk Management Framework and Internal Audit Strategic Action Plan, an initiative aimed at strengthening governance across the public sector.
