Maldives Girl Guides Launch “Guiding Generations” Nationwide Initiative
The Maldives Girl Guides Association (MGGA), with the support of the Pension Office’s CSR Grant, has launched “Guiding Generations”, a nationwide initiative designed to foster intergenerational connections, compassion, and leadership across the Maldives.
The official launch event, held at Lonuziyaaraiy Park in Malé, was simultaneously celebrated in Kulhudhuffushi, Naifaru, and Addu, bringing together girls, community leaders, and elders to mark the beginning of a transformative journey of mutual respect and shared wisdom.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Ms Aneesa Ahmed, recipient of the Order of the Izzuddin, who emphasised the importance of intergenerational projects like “Guiding Generations”, which play a critical role in building stronger, more cohesive communities.
The event was attended by a distinguished group of special invitees, including representatives from the Maldives Pension Office, the Maldives Senior Citizens Association, Friends of Asia Pacific WAGGGS, UNICEF Maldives, UNFPA Maldives, Age Care Maldives, Scouts Association of Maldives, Girl Guides and their elderly parents/grandparents, and former Chief Commissioners.
The launch event featured storytelling sessions, interactive games, and heartfelt interactions between generations, capturing the essence of the project’s vision to bridge hearts across age groups.
As part of MGGA’s broader mission to build resilient, socially-conscious young women, “Guiding Generations” aims to create a transformational movement that will have a lasting positive impact throughout the country, while nurturing future leaders who are grounded in empathy and community-building.
