Heavy Rainfall Causes Flooding, Damages Homes in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo

Heavy rainfall since last night has caused flooding in parts of Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, damaging several homes, the Thinadhoo City Council has reported.
Floodwaters have affected multiple areas of the city, with some houses sustaining structural and property damage.

The council is coordinating with relevant authorities to respond to the situation, although details of the extent of the damage have not yet been released. Videos circulating on social media show water entering homes and damaging household belongings.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Southern Area Command has been deployed to assist residents in Thinadhoo and nearby Madaveli, which has also experienced flooding.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast severe weather across the country over the next four days.
