Ooredoo Maldives’ digital wallet service, m-Faisaa, has received an Inward Remittance Licence from the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
This marks a key milestone in the company’s efforts to strengthen the nation’s digital financial ecosystem.
The licence enables secure and seamless cross-border money transfers directly into m-Faisaa wallets, supporting the government’s broader vision for a digitally driven and cash-lite economy.
At a ceremony held at the MMA, Governor Ahmed Munawwar presented the licence to Fatima Al Kuwari, Board Member of Ooredoo Fintech Maldives and Chairperson of Ooredoo Maldives, and Khalid Al-Hamadi, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Maldives.
Ooredoo said the new feature will benefit freelancers, small business owners, and families who rely on international remittances, allowing users to receive funds from abroad directly into their wallets without intermediaries.
Mr Al-Hamadi said the licence reinforces Ooredoo’s commitment to supporting digital inclusion and financial accessibility in the Maldives.
