President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the Administration’s efforts to discourage tobacco use and vaping are part of a broader commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles among citizens.
In a post shared on his X account to mark World Food Day, President Muizzu noted that his Administration is prioritising the availability of nutritious, locally produced food in the market. He stressed that building a health-conscious society — one focused on disease prevention and the well-being of children — requires fostering positive attitudes towards health and encouraging healthy eating habits.
The President added that the government has implemented a comprehensive set of policies aimed at raising public awareness to achieve this goal. Concluding his message, he offered prayers to Allah Almighty, seeking good health, blessings in sustenance, and overall well-being for the Maldivian people.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also conveyed her greetings on the occasion through a post on X. She described food as more than a necessity, calling it a fundamental right that nourishes people and connects communities across cultures.
The First Lady highlighted the global challenges to food security, including those driven by climate change and conflict. She called for collective action through stronger partnerships and increased international efforts to end hunger, improve nutrition, and ensure food security for all.
