The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has extended the reregistration deadline for eligible Addu City residents who wish to vote outside their current registration location to 18:00 on Saturday.

This extension is in regard to the referendum election scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 25, seeking the opinion of Addu residents in determining the composition of Addu City Council. The referendum will focus on the constituencies of Hulhudhoo, Meedhoo, and Feydhoo, as stipulated by a Presidential Decree issued by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

Voters can submit reregistration applications through the EC’s dedicated reregistration portal or via the main portal, My Portal, at my.elections.gov.mv.

According to the Elections Commission, polling stations for the referendum will correspond to the locations where voters cast their ballots during the 2024 Parliamentary Election:

  • Voters who cast their ballots in Malé, Vilimalé, or Hulhumalé will vote in Malé.
  • Voters in Feydhoo will vote in Feydhoo.
  • Voters in Meedhoo will vote in Meedhoo.
  • Voters registered elsewhere will have their registration reverted to their permanent address

The Commission emphasised that individuals wishing to reregister must do so within the same constituency. The full list of registered voters will be published alongside the announcement.
