Four Arrested in Kolamaafushi Drug Smuggling Operation

Police have arrested four individuals on suspicion of attempting to smuggle a large quantity of drugs into GA. Kolamaafushi.
The arrests were made last Thursday during a police operation launched following a tip-off that drugs were being transported to the island. The suspects were taken into custody at the scene.
Those arrested have been identified as 26-year-old Hassan Rayyan Rasheed, 22-year-old Ismail Haizam Habeeb, 25-year-old Ali Janah Jaufar and 19-year-old Azaan Mohamed.
Police reported that a significant amount of suspected narcotics was recovered from a launch used by the suspects. The seized items included 30 rubber packets and two film bottles containing suspected drugs. Officers also recovered seven cellophane bags containing suspected drugs during a search of the individuals, with the bags weighing a total of 44.83 grams.
Following their arrest, Ismail Haizam Habeeb was remanded in custody for 12 days, while the remaining three suspects were remanded for seven days.
Police stated that the investigation remains ongoing.
