The appointment was made as part of a broader reshuffle following the expiry of four members’ terms. The newly appointed members include Shuaib Abdul Rahman, Shifaz Ali, Ali Mohamed Manik, and Fathimath Shareef. All four nominations were reviewed and approved by Parliament on 13 October before being formally appointed by the President.

The National Integrity Commission is an independent oversight body responsible for monitoring the operations and conduct of law enforcement agencies and their personnel. It also ensures that the laws and regulations under the National Integrity Commission Act are properly implemented.
