Flydubai Begins Operations from Velana International Airport’s New Terminal

Flydubai has commenced flight operations from the newly opened Terminal 1 at Velana International Airport as part of the airport’s ongoing expansion efforts.
The United Arab Emirates budget airline marked the transition with a ceremonial water salute for its first arriving flight.

The airline’s check-in counters at the new terminal have now been officially opened, with services for passengers beginning on Tuesday. The move comes as Maldives Airports Company Limited accelerates the relocation of airlines to the new terminal ahead of the upcoming peak Western winter travel season.
With Flydubai’s addition, Terminal 1 currently accommodates a total of 17 airlines.
