Kaashidhoo Set for Tourism Boost with Resort and Seaplane Launch, Says Gov’t
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has revealed that scheduled seaplane operations are set to begin alongside the construction of a new resort in K. Kaashidhoo’s lagoon.
The resort project, initially announced for a 10-hectare area of the lagoon, received no applications during its first call for interest. The government has since re-launched the tender with added concessions to attract investors.
President Muizzu, who is currently visiting islands in K. Atoll, highlighted that the project is part of his administration’s commitment to expanding tourism. The re-announcement aims to encourage companies to develop the resort and bring associated economic benefits to the island.
The President emphasised that the concessions included in the second announcement are intended to make the project more attractive to potential investors. The initiative is expected to create job opportunities for the residents of Kaashidhoo, which has a population exceeding 2,000, and support local economic development by providing employment close to home.
