The Disciplinary Board of the Maldives Police Service has recommended the dismissal of four police officers stationed at the Shaviyani Milandhoo Police Station after investigations found large sums of money had been deposited into their personal bank accounts.

A police media official confirmed that the officers were investigated by the institution’s Professional Standards Command before the case was forwarded to the Disciplinary Board. Following review, the board advised their removal and ordered their suspension pending the outcome of the appeal process.

Police have not disclosed the identities of the officers or the total amount of money involved.

While authorities have not officially stated the source of the deposits, speculation circulating on social media suggests the officers may have received the funds in connection with falsified catering service bills. The Maldives Police Service has not commented on these claims.
