Road Closures Announced to Allow Victory Day Military Parade Rehearsals

The Maldives Police Service has announced that the roads near the Presidential Jetty will be closed to the public to allow for Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to conduct rehearsals set to be displayed on Victory Day celebrations.
Starting from 30 October, today, until 2 November, the roads near the Presidential Jetty will be closed every day from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM and from 11:00 PM until the rehearsals are done, the Maldives Police announced in a post shared on their official X account.

According to the chart shared by the Police, highlighting the areas set to close, Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be closed to the public beginning from the President’s office until the end of Jumhooree Maidhaan, at the road where Chaandhanee Magu starts.
The area of the road starting from State Trading Organization’s (STO) People’s Choice on Orchid Magu until the end of MNDF’s Headquarters, Bandaara Koshi in Ameer Ahmed Magu, will be closed to vehicles. The area of Chaandhanee Magu, starting from Seagull Cafe’ will also be closed.
President Mohamed Muizzu announced recently that 2 November will be a public holiday, resulting in a four-day Victory Day break for public service employees.
Celebrated on 3 November, Victory Day is celebrated to commemorate the sacrifices of the lives lost during the failed terrorist attack which occurred on 3 November, 1988.
