The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has announced that all applications for fishing licences will now be submitted exclusively through the ‘Keyolhu’ web portal.

The initiative, effective from 4 November, is part of the Ministry’s efforts to streamline and modernise service delivery. Under the new system, both new fishing licence applications and renewals will be processed solely via the ‘Keyolhu’ platform, which is accessible using users’ national digital identity eFaas accounts.

The ‘Keyolhu’ portal has already become an essential tool for the Ministry, supporting a range of services including licence applications related to fish and fish products, submission of regular fish purchase data by companies, and the issuance of catch certificates for fish exports.

To assist applicants, the Ministry has published a detailed guide on its website explaining how to apply for or renew fishing licences through the portal.

Furthermore, applications for the recently introduced gulper shark fishing licence will also be accepted through ‘Keyolhu’. This transition to digital processing highlights the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to improving efficiency and accessibility for stakeholders in the fishing industry.
