The Kulhudhufushi City Council has appointed Ahmed Abdulla, the council member for the North West, as its new Deputy Mayor.
The position became vacant after former Deputy Mayor Ali Ahmed resigned on 19 October, following more than four years in office. Council members voted to elect Abdulla, with five members supporting his appointment. He was the sole candidate for the role, Kulhudhufushi Online reported.
Ali Ahmed stepped down after receiving a Chevening scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in Environment, Politics, and Development at King’s College, the report added.
