President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the fully digital services of Maldives Immigration, marking the completion of a major phase under the government’s ‘Maldives 2.0’ digital transformation project.
The development eliminates the need for in-person visits for passport and visa services, the President’s Office said. The inauguration ceremony held this morning at Barceló Nasandhura Malé, was attended by senior government officials. Upon arrival, President Muizzu was welcomed by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan.
During the event, the new Maldives Immigration website, mobile application, and facial recognition system were unveiled. The President also officially launched the e-Visa service.
Maldives Immigration has become the first government agency to achieve full digitalisation of its services under the initiative.
At the ceremony, Minister Ihusaan and the Controller General of Immigration, Commissioner of Police (Retired) Ahmed Faseeh, presented a commemorative plaque to President Muizzu in recognition of his efforts to advance the ‘Maldives 2.0’ vision and promote nationwide digital progress.
