President Muizzu Orders Nationwide Anti-Drug Operation, Over 100 Locations Searched

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced a large-scale operation against drugs in the Maldives, where over 500 police officers will search more than 100 locations simultaneously.
“The government is taking several steps to make the Maldives drug-free. For this, I have ordered the police to carry out a special operation against those involved in the drug trade,” he said on X.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) confirmed that Operation Alimagu began at 5:30 am and is being conducted in coordination with specialised departments across the country. Officers are continuing searches at more than 100 locations.

The police described the operation as the largest recent effort against drugs in the Maldives, aimed at dismantling trafficking networks and bringing those involved before the law.

However, details regarding arrests, drug seizures, and which locations these searches were conducted have not been released yet.
