Building in Farukolhufushi Sustains Major Damage in Fire

A building in Farukolhufushi, located in Hulhumalé Phase II, sustained damage after a fire broke out yesterday.

The incident occurred at around 13:00 during Friday prayer. Visuals circulating on social media showed the structure heavily engulfed in flames and thick smoke.
According to the Maldives National Defence Force, the fire was brought under control by 13:40. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported.
Further information regarding the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage has not yet been released.
Farukolhufushi, formerly home to a resort, is currently leased for industrial use, with parts of the island also rented out as an event venue.
