NSPA Spends MVR 17.7 Million on Disability Therapy Services in October

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) spent MVR 17.7 million on therapeutic services for persons with disabilities in October, with the majority of recipients being children under 18.
According to figures released yesterday, behaviour therapy accounted for the highest expenditure at MVR 4.4 million. This was followed by occupational therapy at MVR 4.2 million. Speech therapy ranked third, with MVR 3.9 million spent on services provided to 283 individuals.
Other therapy-related costs included MVR 2.5 million for educational therapy and MVR 2.1 million for early intervention services. Psychotherapy amounted to over MVR 100,000, while physiotherapy recorded the lowest expenditure at MVR 226,236.
A total of 532 individuals received therapeutic support during the month. Of these, 512 were children under 18, while 20 were between the ages of 18 and 62.
NSPA stated that 14,832 individuals are currently registered in the national disability registry, highlighting the scale of ongoing support needs across the country.
