Immigration stated, from tomorrow, the work visa sticker currently placed in passports will no longer be valid. All existing work visas in passports will be automatically updated to the e-Visa format. Only the e-Visa will be recognised as a valid work visa.
Departure from the Maldives will be permitted solely for individuals holding a valid e-Visa. Similarly, entry into the country will only be allowed for those with a valid e-Visa.
Newly arriving expatriates must obtain a valid Entry Pass issued by the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology in order to be granted entry.
The validity period of the e-Visa will correspond to the duration of the individual’s work permit.
