A staff member of the National Drug Agency (NDA) has been arrested on suspicion of using and possessing drugs.

According to the Criminal Court’s remand order, the 42-year-old was taken into custody after a cellophane packet suspected of containing drugs was found among items he had dropped. The Investigative Officer informed the court that the suspect’s urine test had returned positive for THC.

During the hearing, the accused told the court that he wished to appoint a lawyer, noted that he is employed by the NDA, and stated that he is the father of young children.

The court ordered that he be remanded in custody for five days, stating that Police had submitted evidence indicating that the alleged offence had been committed.

The arrest comes a week after Mohamed Faseeh, a peer mentor at the NDA, was detained on allegations of providing drugs to clients undergoing rehabilitation and sexually exploiting them.
