The development of the 50-bed hospital has been a long-standing aspiration of the residents of the atoll. The new facility is expected to provide significant benefits to both Eydhafushi and the wider region, addressing the high demand for healthcare services in the area.
The construction of the hospital has been contracted to the Road Development Corporation (RDC) at a cost of USD 11.7 million, with completion scheduled within 540 days. The existing Baa Atoll Hospital experiences heavy daily patient traffic, highlighting the need for expanded facilities.
The government is making substantial efforts to strengthen healthcare services in the atolls, with plans to develop densely populated islands, including Eydhafushi, as urban centres to better serve local communities.
