Ooredoo Fintech has launched a special initiative allowing customers to send international money transfers without fees to countries affected by recent cyclones. The offer, valid from 1 to 31 December 2025, covers transfers to Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand via the mFaisaa mobile platform.
The move aims to provide faster, more affordable financial support for families and communities impacted by the severe weather. Customers can send funds instantly and securely using mFaisaa’s International Money Remittance (IMR) service, powered by MoneyGram.

The service allows transfers of up to USD 10,000 per day, fully digitally, with no paperwork or queues. Users can track transactions in real time through the mFaisaa app and receive instant confirmation once funds are delivered.
Speaking about the initiative, Ooredoo Maldives CEO and Managing Director Khalid Al-Hamadi said: “The Maldives has close cultural and community ties with our neighbours in the region, and many residents have family and loved ones living in countries now affected by the cyclone. By removing transfer fees and enabling instant, secure digital remittances, we hope to make it easier for people to support those who need help the most during this difficult time.”
The initiative highlights Ooredoo’s ongoing commitment to using digital financial services to strengthen communities, promote inclusivity, and provide timely support during emergencies.Besides the zero-fee international money transfer initiave, Ooredoo Maldives had previously offered free calls to Sri Lanka for 24 hours following heavy rainfall brought by Cyclone Ditwah.
