The Maldives Police Service has introduced a suite of new digital tools aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of services offered to the public and across its internal departments.

The launches took place yesterday during Digital Data and Technology Connect 2025, held at Iskandhar Barracks and officiated by State Minister for Internal Security and Technology Dr Mohamed Kinaanath. Senior officials, including Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen and other agency heads, were also in attendance.

During the ceremony, Dr Kinaanath launched the Police MV mobile application, while Commissioner Naveen inaugurated the Police Cyber Portal. The Police MV app features a system that enables complainants to communicate directly with their investigating officer to receive updates on ongoing cases. It also provides tools to check scam information, request and verify police certificates, report cases and submit evidence, access neighbourhood police contacts, and report lost or missing items.

The newly introduced Police Cyber Portal is designed to assist in identifying and preventing cybercrimes. The platform allows users to report suspicious online activity and check links, messages, phone numbers, and email addresses associated with scams reported to police.

Three additional systems were also unveiled at the event. The Fleet Management System will support the maintenance of police vehicles, while the Entry Management System will streamline administrative tasks. The Police Infrastructure Projects System will provide easier access to information on infrastructure development projects within the institution.

Police stated that these initiatives form part of a broader modernisation effort to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and public trust. The launches come at a time when the institution has faced criticism over declining public confidence, with concerns raised about political influence in investigations and the handling of certain cases.
