India and the Maldives have held the third round of their Consular Dialogue in New Delhi, focusing on strengthening people-to-people exchanges and enhancing cooperation on consular and visa-related matters.

The Maldivian delegation was led by Aishath Azeema, High Commissioner of the Maldives to India, and included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology. The Indian delegation was headed by Dr Binoy George, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs.

The India–Maldives Consular Dialogue was established in 2017 to provide a regular and structured channel for engagement on consular, visa, and mutual legal assistance issues, with the aim of strengthening people-to-people contacts. The second round of the dialogue was held in Malé in 2018.

During the latest round, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting people-to-people exchanges and enhancing bilateral cooperation in consular affairs. Delegations engaged in wide-ranging discussions on improving coordination on consular issues and visa facilitation. They also emphasised the importance of continued engagement through regular Consular Dialogues to further strengthen bilateral relations.
