First Batch of Maldives National Service Trainees Departs for Four-Month Programme

The first batch of participants in the Maldives National Service training programme departed today to begin a four-month training course in Baa Atoll Kihaadhoo, marking the start of the national initiative.
The group comprises graduates of the initial phase of national service training, which concluded on 28 December. The full national service programme will be conducted at an army centre in Kihaadhoo.
The army centre operates from the Technical and Vocational Centre established by the Coastline Foundation and was officially designated as an army centre by the Chief of Defence Force and President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

A total of 66 participants, aged between 16 and 19, are enrolled in the first batch of the national service training programme. The group includes 50 male and 16 female participants.
President Muizzu said the programme was launched to develop confident young Maldivians with strong faith, who are physically and mentally healthy, nationalistic and responsible citizens.
