The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed sheet piling along an 85-metre section of the north side road in Malé.

Reclamation works are currently ongoing, while water and sewerage upgrading works are scheduled to be finished by next week. Additional works are also underway, including the construction of pavements alongside buildings, the installation of drainage wells, and the development of cable junctions, all of which are expected to be completed within the same timeframe.

The local market road project involves the paving of a 250-metre stretch from the local market area to the North Harbour. The project includes the extension of the canal to six metres and the widening of the road. Upon completion, the roads in the market area will be reconfigured to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety. The project is also expected to introduce modern road infrastructure and provide a long-term solution to flooding issues in the area.

Overall, the project covers a total length of 1,088 metres, stretching from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the North Harbour. The first phase, covering 140 metres, has already been completed. The government has said that the project is expected to ease congestion in the commercial port area and improve the transportation of goods.
