The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has urged the public not to circulate unverified information regarding the fire that broke out yesterday at Amaan Dhoadhi Tower 1 in Phase 2.

In a statement, the corporation said the fire, which occurred yesterday afternoon, ignited on a pile of garbage near the building. The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly, extinguishing the fire shortly after it began. MNDF reported receiving the alert at 1:11 pm and bringing the blaze under control by 1:28 pm. Both FDC and MNDF confirmed that no injuries were reported.

FDC noted that false claims about the tower’s ventilation and waste disposal systems have been circulating on social media. The company urged residents to rely only on official updates, including FDC’s Viber group and social media channels.

A post shared on X included videos of the incident, with a user claiming that the tower’s “utility corridors are being misused as dumping grounds.”

FDC said it is investigating the cause of the fire. The affected area has been restored to normal, and the corporation is currently assessing any damage to the building and planning necessary repairs.

The company also advised the towers’ residents to only dispose garbage at the allocated space, and reminded residents that disposing of it anywhere else is against the rules of the building.
