MoU Signed to Launch Training Programmes for Residents at Home for People With Special Needs

The National Mental Health Department and Maldives Polytechnic have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide training programmes for the residents at the Home for People with Special Needs.
Under the agreement, Maldives Polytechnic will conduct in-home training sessions for the residents at the Home for People with Special Needs, located at Kaafu Atoll Guraidhoo. The programme will focus on developing a range of skills, according to the Mental Health Department.
In addition, the Mental Health Department will deliver awareness sessions for students and staff at Maldives Polytechnic, equipping them to effectively teach and support.

Separately, on 8 January, the Ministry of Social and Family Development opened applications for the third batch of its Job Readiness Programme for Persons with disabilities. Minister Dr Aishath Shiham has previously stated that the government has created employment opportunities for 350 persons with disabilities during its current term.
