Four Arrested in Malé on Suspicion of Illegal Sale of Alcohol

Police have arrested four people on suspicion of selling alcohol illegally in Malé City.

The arrests took place on 20 January during a joint operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department and the Counter Narcotics Intelligence agency.

The suspects have been identified as Sipon Ali, 21, Jewel Rana, 32, MD Nazrul Islam, 20, and MD Ibrahim, 22. All four are Bangladeshi nationals.

Police said officers discovered 54 bottles of alcohol during a search of a house in Malé City. A motorcycle believed to have been used in connection with the case was towed from the scene.

All four suspects have been handed over to Immigration for deportation. The case remains under investigation.
