Two children under the age of 18 were injured in a motorcycle accident in Fuvahmulah yesterday.

Police said the speeding motorcycle was being driven by a child under the age of 18. Both injured children received treatment at the hospital and were later discharged.

The incident is currently under investigation.

CCTV footage circulating on social media shows one motorcycle stationary at the roadside while another approaches at high speed. The footage appears to show the speeding rider losing control before crashing into the waiting motorcycle, after which the rider swerves to the left and moves out of view.

Police have repeatedly warned that underage driving continues to lead to serious injuries and fatalities across the country.
