Ooredoo Maldives has donated specialised underwater equipment to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to support maritime rescue operations.

The donation includes an Ocean Reef M105 digital dual-channel communication system, a Lubell Labs underwater loudspeaker, and three Ocean Reef full-face diving masks. The equipment is intended to enhance underwater communication, diver safety, and operational efficiency, key capabilities for the MNDF Coast Guard’s search and rescue missions.

The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday at Bandaara Koshi, where Ooredoo Managing Director and CEO Khalid Al Hamadi presented the equipment to Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon on behalf of the MNDF.

Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy acknowledged Ooredoo’s contribution, highlighting that the equipment would significantly strengthen the Coast Guard’s underwater and rescue operations in a country deeply reliant on the marine environment. He also commended Ooredoo for its ongoing support for maritime safety and national security.

Khalid Al Hamadi emphasised the central role of the sea in Maldivian life and the importance of the MNDF’s work in ensuring national safety. He reaffirmed Ooredoo’s commitment to supporting diver safety and making sustainable, meaningful contributions to society.
