Man Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Drugs into Kudahuvadhoo by Air

Police have arrested a 50-year-old man for attempting to smuggle suspected narcotics into Kudahuvadhoo by air.

According to the police, the suspect, identified as Hussain Afeef, Athamage, Haa Dhaalu Atoll Neykurendhoo, was apprehended during a targeted operation launched after Counter-Narcotics Intelligence received information about an attempt to transport drugs to Kudahuvadhoo via air travel.

The police said that in a joint operation carried out on 28 January, officers from Kudahuvadhoo Police Station and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence intercepted the suspect at Dhaalu Airport. A search of his belongings led to the discovery of two film canisters containing substances suspected to be narcotics.

Police produced Hussain Ateef before the court to determine his remand status, where the court ordered him to be detained for 15 days.

Authorities said investigations into the case are ongoing.
