The President officially launched the book “HRCM ge Han’dhaanthah” by the first President of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) yesterday morning during a meeting held at the President’s Office.
The author, Ahmed Saleem, recipient of the Most Distinguished Foreign Service Medal and the first President of the HRCM, presented President Dr Mohamed Muizzu with a copy of the publication at the event.
The book documents the establishment and early operations of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives, alongside Ahmed Saleem’s experiences during his five-year tenure as its President. It also outlines key historical developments that contributed to shaping the country’s democratic system.
Ahmed Saleem was among the initial members appointed when the Commission was established by Presidential Decree in 2003. He later served as the first President of the Commission under the 2008 Constitution, which remains in force.
