The “Rahafaiy” exhibition has opened, featuring authentic Maldivian food and beverages prepared by senior citizens across generations. 

The event was inaugurated by the Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, alongside the Minister of Family and Social Development, Dr. Aishath Shiham.

The exhibition highlights traditional Maldivian cuisine, with a particular focus on delicacies typically prepared for Ramadan. It provides a platform for senior citizens to share their culinary expertise while engaging the wider community.

The initiative aims to offer senior citizens and their families a joyful environment, while also educating younger generations about Maldivian culinary traditions. By showcasing home-prepared delicacies, the exhibition helps revive traditional vocabulary and encourages collaborative learning across generations.

Exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the opportunity to present Maldivian flavours to the public, noting that the exhibition allows a wide audience to experience the diversity of local cuisine in one place.

A total of 77 exhibitors are participating in the event, with over 2,000 items on display. A special feast was held following the opening, featuring 33 varieties of Maldivian dishes prepared for senior citizens.

The exhibition is open to the public until 7 February. It will be held daily except Friday, from 14:00 to 18:00 and 20:00 to 22:00. On Fridays, the exhibition will open from 16:00 to 18:00 and from 20:00 to 22:00.
