Government Launches Dedicated Health Insurance Scheme for Athletes

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced the official launch of a specialised health insurance scheme dedicated to athletes last Thursday.

The announcement was made in a post shared on the President’s official X account.

According to the President, arrangements have been finalised to provide health insurance coverage to 385 athletes and officials representing 18 national sports associations across the Maldives.

“This is something that sports families in the Maldives have been asking for many years,” he said.

He said the scheme aims to provide medical security for athletes by covering treatment for injuries sustained during domestic competitions, as well as during overseas tournaments and training programmes.
