President Dr Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the Judicial Year 2026 at a ceremony held at the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) last Thursday.

The annual inauguration marks an opportunity to review the judiciary’s work over the past year and to outline priorities and objectives for the year ahead, while also facilitating engagement among judges and personnel across the judicial sector.

The ceremony included a special segment honouring retired judges for their service. Chief Justice of the Maldives, Uz Abdul Ghanee Mohamed, delivered the annual Judicial Address.

During the event, President Muizzu presented plaques of honour to retired judges and staff members in recognition of their long-standing service and commitment to the judiciary. Plaques of appreciation were also awarded to seven individuals for their contributions to the judicial sector, with the awards presented by the Chief Justice.
