Four Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Hulhumalé Highway

A dangerous multi-vehicle collision occurred on Hulhumalé Highway yesterday, leaving four people injured.

The accident was reported to police at 12:45 am and involved six vehicles travelling from Malé to Hulhumalé. Authorities stated that the collision began when a car struck another stationary vehicle on the four-wheeled lane, before losing control and colliding with four motorcycles on the two-wheeled lane.

All four injured individuals are Maldivian males. They were taken to Hulhumalé Hospital and Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Malé. Two have since been discharged, while the other two remain hospitalised, showing signs of improvement. IGMH confirmed it received one of the victims, a 31-year-old male, who is currently being treated in the Emergency Room. Details of the injuries sustained by all victims have not been disclosed.

Footage captured by witnesses indicates that both cars involved in the initial collision were taxis and that all six vehicles suffered significant damage.

The incident remains under investigation by police.
