Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) Managing Director Hamdhaan Shakeel has called for public cooperation to maintain cleanliness in the FDC Towers area, following the repeated dumping of large piles of garbage near the residential blocks.

Residents have expressed concerns on social media about the ongoing issue, with videos and photos showing significant amounts of debris left in common areas, including a corridor leading to one of the tower entrances. Former Heritage Ministry Director Shamoon Jaleel, also known as Lucas Jalyl, shared a video of a passageway blocked by waste, highlighting the inconvenience caused to residents.

Hamdhaan Shakeel stated that the area had been cleaned on Saturday, but new waste was dumped again on Monday. He described such behaviour as uncivilised, posing health risks and contradicting the country’s religious and cultural values.

FDC has removed the waste and warned that action will be taken against individuals who violate their housing agreements by dumping garbage illegally. Hamdhaan also expressed gratitude to residents who dispose of bulk waste responsibly, in accordance with the established rules.

He emphasised that maintaining a safe and clean living environment at the flats is only possible with the cooperation of all residents. This follows previous warnings from FDC about the implementation of fines and other measures against illegal waste dumping in the second phase of the FDC flats.
