The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has warned residents of the 4,000-unit “Amaan Towers” housing complex in Hulhumalé Phase II that it will begin issuing fines against those who dispose of waste in unauthorised areas.
In a public notice, the Corporation said it had received numerous complaints about individuals leaving rubbish in common areas and on the ground floors of the towers, in breach of established waste management regulations.
FDC stated that the unauthorised accumulation of waste has caused significant inconvenience to residents and created potential risks to public health and safety. It emphasised that such actions directly violate the waste disposal policies previously set out and published by the Corporation.

Under the regulations, residents must not dispose of or accumulate waste in corridors, walkways or around the external perimeter of the towers. Household waste must be placed exclusively in the designated bins located inside the garbage rooms on the ground floor of each building.
The Corporation also reminded residents that unit owners bear responsibility for disposing of large items generated during the move-in process, including cardboard boxes, polystyrene and other packaging materials, in accordance with FDC guidelines.
FDC has requested all residents and visitors to immediately cease any disposal practices that contravene the rules. It confirmed that from a specified date this month, it will begin taking formal action and issuing fines against individuals found in violation.
