The government’s new housing initiative, the ‘Boahiyaavahikan Enmenah’ scheme, is seeing strong demand, with more than 3,600 applications submitted so far, according to Housing Minister Dr Abdulla Muthalib.
During Public Service Media (PSM)’s ‘Raajje Miadhu’ programme, he stated that the Housing Ministry has received 3,651 applications to date, with an additional 10,000 applications currently in the drafting stage. The high demand is attributed to the government offering three-bedroom flats under the programme.
With over two months remaining before the application deadline, Dr Muthalib expects the number of applications to increase further. He encouraged applicants to avoid rushing their submissions and to ensure that all required information and supporting documents are included.
The Housing Ministry opened applications for the scheme in January, providing 15,000 land plots and 7,900 flats from the greater Male’ area. Applications must be submitted via a dedicated digital portal. The deadline for land plot applications is 11:59 pm on 5 March, while flat applications close at 11:59 pm on 18 April.
The scheme offers 7,900 flats from the greater Male’ region and 15,000 land plots measuring 1,250 square feet from both the greater Male’ region and Rasmale’. The land scheme is divided into two categories: registered residents of Male’ and other priority applicants are eligible for plots in Greater Male’ and Rasmale’, while residents from other islands who currently live in Male’ are eligible for plots in Rasmale’.
