Maldivian Woman Arrested Over Alleged Abuse of 15-Year-Old Boy

Police have arrested a 35-year-old Maldivian woman, Fathimath Reema, for allegedly grooming, exploiting, and sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy.

Reema was taken into custody on 29 December 2025 during a joint operation by the Family and Child Protection Unit and Crime Intelligence. When she was brought before the Criminal Court for a decision on her detention, the court ordered that she remain in custody until 28 February 2026.

The police have confirmed that the case is under active investigation. Authorities emphasised that grooming minors, exploiting them for gang activity, and committing sexual abuse are treated with the utmost seriousness. Law enforcement said it is committed to pursuing the strongest possible action against offenders.
