President Muizzu Arrives in Bangladesh on Official Visit

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu arrived in Bangladesh on an official visit on Monday evening.

The visit follows an invitation from Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the new Bangladeshi government on 17 February 2026.

The President’s visit will take place from 16 to 18 February 2026. During the trip, he is also scheduled to meet the newly elected Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Bangladesh were established on 22 September 1978.

Last week, President Muizzu returned from an official visit to Germany at the invitation of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The visit coincided with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Germany.
