Fenaka Corporation Limited has procured four new generators as part of efforts to strengthen and sustain electricity services across four islands.

The utility company confirmed that the shipment includes three 600-kilowatt (kW) gensets and one 400-kW genset. The generators will be installed

  • L. Dhanbidhoo (400 kW),
  • B. Kendhoo (600 kW) and
  • Ha. Kelaa (600 kW).

Fenaka stated that the 400-kW generator designated for Laamu Dhanbidhoo and the 600-kW unit for Laamu Isdhoo have already been loaded for transport and are expected to arrive on the islands by tomorrow. The remaining two gensets allocated to Baa Kendhoo and Haa Alif Kelaa have arrived in Malé and are currently undergoing customs clearance. The company expects to dispatch them within the next two days.

According to Fenaka, all existing generators in the four islands are currently operating simultaneously to meet electricity demand. The company said the installation and commissioning of the new units will significantly improve the stability and quality of electricity services in the affected islands.

Fenaka added that the procurement forms part of its broader strategy to enhance power generation capacity and ensure reliable electricity supply nationwide.
