The Visit Maldives Corporation is set to make an expanded return to ITB Berlin 2026, scheduled to take place from 3 to 5 March at Messe Berlin, as part of its global tourism promotion strategy.

The participation forms part of preparations for Visit Maldives Year 2027 and will feature an enhanced national presence, including the revival of the Maldivian Night and a high-level international press conference.

The Maldivian Night, co-hosted with the Bank of Maldives, is expected to bring together international tour operators, airline executives, media representatives and travel trade stakeholders. The event will also provide a platform to introduce BML Swipe, a digital payment solution designed to improve transaction convenience for visitors across the Maldives.

VMC will additionally host an international press conference during the fair, where a major strategic tourism initiative is scheduled to be unveiled. Officials have described the forthcoming announcement as part of a broader long-term vision centred on sustainability, innovation and strengthening global competitiveness.

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of VMC, Ibrahim Shiuree, stated that ITB Berlin remains a key pillar of the Maldives’ international marketing efforts. He indicated that the revival of the Maldivian Night and the planned press conference reflect renewed ambition in promoting the destination.

The Maldives’ national pavilion will operate under the brand message “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life” and will include participation from resorts, airlines, travel agencies and sustainability-focused enterprises. The pavilion is expected to facilitate business-to-business networking and market development initiatives.

Germany, Switzerland and Austria continue to represent important European source markets for Maldivian tourism. In 2025, Germany accounted for 167,822 visitor arrivals, placing it among the leading source markets for the destination.

Through its expanded engagement at ITB Berlin 2026, VMC aims to reinforce the Maldives’ standing as a safe, sustainable and premium tourism destination ahead of Visit Maldives Year 2027.
