Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revised traffic flow at Velana International Airport (VIA), designating the area in front of Terminal 2 exclusively for passenger drop-off and pick-up.

In a press release, MACL said the changes came into effect at 10:00 a.m. on 25 March 2026, as part of efforts to improve accessibility and enhance the passenger experience at Terminal 2.

Under the new arrangement, the area between the Terminal 2 arrivals section and the roundabout has been designated for passenger drop-offs, with marked spaces accommodating up to four taxis at a time. The section between the departures area and the roundabout has been allocated for passenger pick-ups, with capacity for up to five taxis.

MACL stated that the revised traffic flow is intended to streamline ground transportation and reduce congestion in front of the terminal. Staff have been deployed in the area to assist passengers and manage vehicle movement during the transition period.
