Gov’t Signs Agreements with MTCC to Develop Infrastructure Projects Across Five slands

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has signed with the  Maldives Transport and Contracting Company has signed agreements to implement infrastructure development projects across five islands in multiple atolls, the company announced today.

The projects, undertaken in partnership with the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, include harbour development works and coastal protection initiatives aimed at improving resilience and connectivity in island communities, according to the company. 

According to details shared on X, harbour development will be carried out in Laamu Atoll Mundoo, while coastal protection projects are planned for Gaaf Alif Atoll Nilandhoo and Gaaf Dhaal Atoll Hoandedhoo.

In Noonu Atoll Landhoo, the project will include coastal protection works alongside the development of a designated swimming area and a boat beaching facility. Meanwhile, Raa Atoll Angolhitheemu will see the development of a harbour, jetty, and a swimming area.

The agreements were signed on behalf of the ministry by State Minister Ismail Hameed, while Ahmed Shareef Abdul Rahman Yoosuf signed on behalf of MTCC.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mohamed Fazeel, Member of Parliament for the Dhaandhoo constituency, and Husnee Mubarik, Member of Parliament for the Manadhoo constituency.

Authorities said the projects form part of ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and climate resilience across island communities.
