Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stated that the President’s pledges to citizens reflect a strong and consistent commitment to the public.

He made the remarks while speaking at a ceremony held to commence physical works on harbour upgrading, development of a boat beaching area, and a land reclamation project in Faresmaathoda, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, yesterday.

According to the President’s Office, he said that despite challenges during the early stages of the administration, priority had been given to ensuring the provision of essential services and addressing immediate needs, while also implementing programmes aimed at benefiting future generations.

He added that President Mohamed Muizzu continues to work to mitigate the impact of the ongoing global crisis on citizens through what he described as careful and considered measures.

The Vice President also reflected on the role of Parliament in advancing government policies. He noted that, upon assuming office, the administration faced a Parliament in which the majority of members were from the opposition. However, he said this did not hinder progress, as Parliament passed the national budget as proposed, which he described as an example of cooperation and constructive engagement among members.

During the visit, the Vice President also inaugurated the second phase of the island’s road development project.
