The deadline to apply for the MV+ Community Impact Awards & Fundraiser 2026 has been extended to 15 May, allowing NGOs, businesses, and individuals more time to submit entries for the expanded awards programme.
Previously scheduled to close on 31 March, the extension provides additional time for prospective applicants across all categories to take part in the fourth edition of the biennial awards.
The MV+ Community Impact Awards & Fundraiser, scheduled to be held in November, has, until now, exclusively recognised NGOs. In 2026, the initiative broadens its scope for the first time to include businesses and individuals, marking a significant expansion in its effort to highlight changemakers across Maldivian society. The event will also function as a fundraiser, with proceeds directed to the NGOs that receive awards.
The 2026 edition will feature three main categories: Outstanding NGOs, Corporate Changemakers, and the Lifetime Impact Award.
Outstanding NGOs
The Outstanding NGOs category remains dedicated to health-focused initiatives, including campaigns on cancer prevention, awareness, and treatment support, as well as efforts addressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs), community health education, and patient or caregiver support.
Corporate Changemakers
Meanwhile, the Corporate Changemakers category is open to corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives across the private, government, and tourism sectors. While submissions are not limited to health-related work, priority will be given to initiatives addressing pressing health concerns, particularly cancer and NCDs.
Lifetime Impact Award
The Lifetime Impact Award will recognise a Maldivian individual whose sustained commitment—spanning at least 15 years—has led to meaningful and lasting contributions to society.
Why focus on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)?
Each edition of the awards highlights a critical national issue. For 2026, the focus has broadened to non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which remain one of the most significant and persistent health challenges in the Maldives.
NCDs account for a substantial proportion of illness and premature death in the country. Their widespread impact is felt not only within the healthcare system but also across families, communities, and the economy.
By placing a spotlight on NCDs, the awards aim to encourage stronger prevention efforts, promote healthier lifestyles, and recognise the work of organisations and businesses striving to address these conditions. The initiative also seeks to amplify public awareness and support long-term, community-driven solutions to reduce the burden of NCDs in the Maldives.
The MV+ Community Impact Awards & Fundraiser 2026 aims to celebrate those driving positive change while inspiring broader participation in tackling national challenges. With its expanded categories and fundraising component, the upcoming edition is expected to be its most impactful yet.
